Front of House Manager – The Hexagon Waterfront Patio & Restaurant

 About Us

The Hexagon is a seasonal waterfront restaurant and premier event venue in Deep River, dedicated to delivering exceptional dining experiences and seamless event hosting. We take pride in creating unforgettable moments for our guests. We are seeking a passionate, customer-focused Front of House (FOH) Manager to lead our team and uphold our high standards of service.

Job Summary

The FOH Manager oversees all front-of-house operations, ensuring outstanding guest experiences, smooth daily service, and successful event execution. This hands-on role requires both managerial responsibilities and active table service to support operations. The ideal candidate is a dynamic leader with a passion for hospitality, strong organizational skills, and the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.

Expectations

     •           Must have a flexible schedule, including evenings and 2–3 Saturdays per month as needed. We offer flexible hours to work around your life.

     •           The role includes administrative duties, staff training and customer service including serving tables.

 Required Certifications

 (Must be obtained within two weeks of employment)

     •           Valid Class G driver’s license with a favourable driving record

     •           Smart Serve Certification

     •           WHMIS Training

     •           Safe Food Handling Certification

     •           Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Workspace, Outlook, and restaurant POS systems

Key Responsibilities

 Guest Experience

     •           Ensure exceptional customer service, addressing concerns and implementing guest feedback for continuous improvement.

     •           Oversee restaurant ambience, cleanliness, and presentation to maintain a welcoming environment.

     •           Lead by example, upholding high service standards.

 Team Leadership & Development

     •           Train, supervise, and support FOH staff, including servers, hosts, and bartenders.

     •           Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment focused on professionalism and growth.

     •           Manage staff scheduling to ensure proper coverage for daily operations and events.

 Event Management

     •           Collaborate with the general manager, event coordinator, and local entertainment groups to plan and host events such as live entertainment, themed dinners, and special event nights.

     •           Work closely with the event coordinator to ensure seamless execution of weddings and private events.

     •           Oversee FOH event staffing, including setup, service, and breakdown.

     •           Maintain clear and consistent communication between FOH and BOH staff regarding event details.

 Operational Oversight

     •           Manage FOH operations, including reservations, seating arrangements, and POS systems.

     •           Ensure employee handbooks and service manuals remain up to date and regularly review them with staff.

     •           Develop and implement opening & closing procedures, cleaning schedules, and operational efficiency strategies.

     •           Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations.

     •           Conduct regular team meetings to share updates, set goals, and reinforce policies.

     •           Oversee inventory levels for bar, takeout, and coffee service, handling orders and stock management.

 Financial Management

     •           Assist in budgeting and labour cost control.

     •           Track and analyze sales trends, implementing strategies to enhance revenue and profitability.

 Collaboration with Kitchen

     •           Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure seamless communication and service flow.

 Online Presence & Marketing

     •           Partner with the owner to enhance the restaurant’s online presence.

     •           Manage social media engagement, encourage staff participation in content creation, and respond to Google Reviews.

 Qualifications

     •           Proven experience in restaurant or event management.

     •           Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills.

     •           Ability to handle high-pressure situations with professionalism and poise.

     •           Proficiency in restaurant management software and POS systems.

     •           Knowledge of health, safety, and food service standards.

     •           Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

     •           Experience with Facebook, Instagram, and Google platforms is an asset.

Busy Waterfront Restaurant & Catering Company in Deep River seeks Full-Time Servers for the Summer Season.

We are seeking highly skilled, friendly, and hardworking individuals to be a key part of our team and its success. This role is all about providing excellent service to our guests, from greeting to goodbye and everything in between.  Every day is a different day in our kitchen, and we rely on a strong team ethic to meet our high standards, achieve excellence in creating our product whilst maintaining the highest level of food safety and health and safety. This role is exciting, fast paced and challenging but highly rewarding.

Requirements;

  • Smart Serve Certification

  • Friendly, positive and customer service focused

  • Ability to multi-task and problem solve

  • Self motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team

  • Successful applicants must have or be willing to obtain Smart Serve Certification within 1 week of employment

  • Evening and weekend availability

  • Must be able stand for long hours and lift up to 20 kgs

  • Previous experience in the hospitality industry an asset but not required, training required

Responsibilities;

  • Greeting and providing exceptional service to all guests

  • Cash handling and operation of POS system

  • Daily cleaning of dining room, patio, washrooms, and other areas as required

Join a great team with a beautiful waterfront view. We are looking for an enthusiastic cook to join the Maven Catering Team! 

Position length Mid-April to October with an option to extend based on availability. 

This role is all about preparing hot & cold delicious food, to deliver Maven’s Catering’s quality to every customer. Every day is a different day in our kitchen, and we rely on a strong team ethic to meet our high standards, achieve excellence in creating our product whilst maintaining the highest level of food safety and health and safety. This role is exciting, fast paced and challenging but highly rewarding.

Rate of pay based on previous working experience and will increase once training is complete.

Requirements;

  • Current Safe Food Handling Certificate (must obtain within one month of hiring date)

  • Evening and weekend availability 

  • Ability to multi-task and problem solve

  • Self motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team

  • Have strong customer service skills

  • Must be able to lift 20 kg unassisted
